Hi shabana-parveen,
Seems like you don't have carthage installed. Please install by running:

brew install carthage

on MAC,
download Node v6, LTS
in bash, type sudo npm install -g appium@latest
once its done, close
open new terminal type in appium

Just use the cli version for now if you want the latest build. I've struggled with it myself for a couple of days, now it seems as good as the app.

I really need appium inspector. Unfortunately, it cannot be run via npm package. Waiting for GUI app.

I've created a blog post which goes through complete steps.

Its copy/paste of official installation guide by appium but with some changes/additions. One of which is, instead of cloning git repository of appium, you should do "npm install -g appium" from terminal.

Yes, But what i noticed is that Appium 1.6.X still doesn't support many gestures other than Tap. so waiting for stable release, But i can run and tap on the app
