Unable to update appium

hi, i am unable to update appium,to 1.4.16.1 ,i am trying to update through the pop-up which comes when you launch appium server i am getting this error:-Access to the path 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Appium\wi4pp1ce.0gj' is denied.please help i am new to appium?

I had the same problem. I decided to just running appium as administrator.

Run appium through administrator , then can update the appium.
