Unable to update npm

i am trying to download appium through node and i am getting a lot of errors after running
npm install -g appium
i saw that npm version should be at least 3.0.0 and i have 2.15.9 i have tried to update npm on appium but couldn't is anybody familiar with it?

after deleting all of node files from computer and reinstalling app i got to download the app thanks for the help
